Reveling in the creative

2 September 30, 2010
Playing around with some stamps to 'brand up' the exterior of the bland (but very eco-friendly!) envelopes we're using to mail out shave cream samples. (Btw, if you haven't requested your free shave cream sample yet, you're missing out - unless you're freeloading, in which case, take a hike!) Anyway, modesty aside, the stamped logo effect shown here looks pretty good, doesn't it? Loving that texture on the bear, arrows, star, etc. We're really happy with the way our logo came out (nice work, team!). Feels masculine, rugged, outdoorsy (in a good way), natural, a little mysterious, not too fussy, ioo. We can imagine the logo on tee or a bicycling jersey - a fun project for next spring maybe. OK, enough about what we think. What about you? Would love to hear your thoughts on the logo. Don't be shy; let'em fly!

Looks awesome! Great detail, but not overdone. Definitely grabs your attention, but is still simple, clean, and cool. I love the black and white contrast. Great Job!!!

Wait ‘til you see our brand sticker, Andy! You’ll put that front-row-center on the snow- and surfboards, I’m sure. Hah!

PT, we appreciate honest feedback but this strikes us as a bit cynical… maybe you should get some fresh air/take a hike!

Thanks for the feedback, Courtney. I’ll pass that on to our design partner in Austin, TX (Ptarmak). Glad to see you’re paying attention to the little details ;) How did you like the shave cream?

MAN, DEFINITELY LIKE THE IDENTITY AS A WHOLE. I JUST GOT ONE OF YOUR FREE SAMPLES (AND SHAVED YESTERDAY WITH IT), AND I ENJOYED LOOKING AT THE BUSINESS CARD THAT CAME WITH IT.

IN REGARDS TO THE LOGO, YOU ASKED SO I GUESS I’LL TELL. I LIKE THE LOGO, BUT FOR SOME REASON THE TWO SMALLER PEAKS HOLD A BIT TOO MUCH TENSION. THE SMALL PEAK ON THE LEFT BEING THE ONLY THING HORIZONTAL IN MOST OF THE BRANDING IS SLIGHTLY ODD. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE EITEHR BOTH SMALL PEAKS HORIZONTAL, OR BOTH POINTY. ANYWHO, THAT’S SUPER PICKY, BUT LIKE I SAID, YOU ASKED! (AND I’M A DESIGN MAJOR HAHA)

I DIG WHAT’S GOING ON HERE.

Pretty table stakes stuff.
We get it -you want to connect to men in a ‘natural way’ therefore its rugged with a mountain silhouette, a cliché bear and the crossed arrows. You even threw in a star. All rhetorical. Works for Old Navy though.

Absolutely lovin’ the branding of Ursa Major… Everything, the textures, color, linework, detailing is top-notch. You’re also making Courier rock, nice!

Thanks again, Courtney. Glad you’re enjoying the product as well… It’s awesome to see folks engaging with The Great Bear online, CAPS or no caps. So thanks for that. We’re cooking up some fun stuff for 2011 so stay tuned! Here’s to a MAJOR 2011. (MAJOR in CAPS!)

Really loved it actually. The shave was great. Very different than anything I generally use (foam). Overall, I enjoyed the experience the more I used it and became familiar with a cream verses a foam. Thanks for the opportunity to try it!

P.S. Sorry about the all caps before, and Ptarmak does rockin work. Glad you guys are working together on this project.

Awesome branding and that logo is stunning. I’m curious…what font is that? It’s awesome!
