We chose to launch Ursa Major from the back-woods of Vermont so we're relying heavily on the internet and PR to get the word out there. We made a decision early on to keep our PR in-house, at least for the time being, and so far it's working pretty well...
Fortunately we've been able to work directly with a bunch of savvy (clearly!) writers/editors to get'em what they need and in turn most of them have tried our products and said mostly positive things about them.
