Sylvan Ellefson is one of Ursa Major's brand ambassadors AND one of the most competitive Nordic ski racers in the United States.  Since graduating from Bates College in 2009, Sylvan has been on a mission to represent the United States at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.  This week, at the 2014 U.S. National Championships, Sylvan will be racing the final Olympic qualifiers.  The end of the trail to Sochi is nigh, so we wanted to take a minute to share Sylvan's story with our Blog Cabin readers.

Sylvan Ellefson might be the fittest dude you’ve never heard about.  We love Sylvan because he bucks all the stereotypes that exist about pro athletes.  Sylv, as he’s affectionately known, trains hundreds of hours a year, mostly alone, high in the mountains above Vail.  He works as a caretaker for Vail’s McMansions.  He drives an old Toyota pickup that he absolutely adores.  He volunteers in a fourth grade class at the local elementary school.  He swears by our Stellar Shave Cream.

On the snow he dominates. Off the snow he’s the friendliest guy around.

We’re amped to call Sylv a friend of The Great Bear.
