24 Hours in Stowe

Christine Mitchell Adams December 22, 2015

Next in our holiday Vermont travel guide is the magical town of Stowe, VT. Although a beautiful area all-year round, Stowe mountain and village really come alive in the winter. Below are our recommendations for your weekend trip. PS: you're getting the insider scoop from UM founders and Stowe residents Oliver and Emily.

Topnotch Resort: For the ultimate relaxing experience, we recommend staying at Topnotch Resort. The spa is worth a visit in its own right, but why not stay for the weekend in one of their contemporary and comfortable rooms and take advantage of all the resort has to offer.

Eat + Drink

Lost Nation: Head north of Stowe about 10 miles to visit one of our favorite local breweries. The belgian-styled beer pairs perfectly with their burgers, ribs and more. Our favorites are their Gose and Mosaic IPA.

Plate: This is Oliver and Emily's go-to spot for dinner in town. New to the Main Street line-up of shops and restaurants, Plate offers local Vermont flavors with a refreshing and healthy twist.

Cork: With locations in Waterbury and Stowe, Cork is a great stop-off for a bottle of wine on your way back to the hotel. Or why not stay a while for some small plates and delicious wine pairings. Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable so we go with whatever they recommend.

Trapp's Cabin: Don't miss the famous Von Trapp family lodge during your visit. X-C ski or snowshoe their extensive trail system on up to the Trapp's Cabin for a mug of hot cider or soup.

Stowe Mountain: More of a downhill skier? We love getting a day in at Stowe Mountain Resort. Our favorite trails are Perry Merrill, Chin Clip, Hayride and Nosedive.

Commodities Market: The perfect pit-stop stock up on healthy snacks and essentials for your weekend stay or drive back home. You can also replenish your overnight kit with your favorite Ursa Major products while you're there.

Laughing Moon Chocolates: If you are a fan of chocolate at all, you'll fall in love with these chocolates. Be prepared to have some trouble choosing out of all their amazing flavors - from classic caramel to chamomile and lavender chevre.

Shaw's General Store: No visit to Vermont would be complete without stopping by the local general store. Shaw's has been around for ages and is the perfect stop for everything you need... and everything you don't need but must have.

Bonus! Our Daily Skin Care Set features the topography of Stowe on the custom belly band designed by our design firm Ptarmak making it the perfect tag-along for your trip, or gift for that someone on your list who is a big fan of ripping down Stowe Mountain every winter.
