Stellar Shave Cream

Unlike a gel or foam, this is a true cream, so it goes on more like a cold cream (is that even what they call it anymore? Anyway, think Nivea). I shave in the shower, and sticks well to a wet face, stays put as I let it soak. It doesn’t ash away in the mist of the shower before I start shaving, and gives exactly the right amount of slide.

Easy rinsing between strokes so my razor doesn’t get clogged uP, then rinses clean off my face when I’m done.

Dunno how this will perform with one of the quintuple-bladed monstrosities that pass for razors these days, but with a fresh blade in my DE safety razor, it is the closest smoothest shave I’ve ever had.

This product represents the difference between me hating to shave and loving to shave. I've been loyal since the first time I used it and haven't looked back. The tube also lasts a really long time since you don't have to use much for each shave. The fragrance is subtle but smells amazing. I really can't say enough - I've told everyone who will listen that this is the best shave cream out there.

This Spring, I learned via a Vermont Fox about Ursa Major, whose logo includes a bear. This reminded me about my first bear encounter in Kings Canyon, CA about 30 years ago. A mother bear, a yearling, and two cubs showed up at my campsite at about 5 p.m. as I was just finishing dinner. They weren't leaving until I shared some food, which I did and they left peacefully. But unlike those bears, the Ursa Major bear brings refreshing and aromatic emollients, rather than a hungry family looking for easy snacks. I have tried and very much recommend the Ursa Major shaving cream, face balm, and facial wipes and look forward to trying the other products as well. All smell wonderful and probably taste great. Those California bears would undoubtedly eat all three products.

It is by far the worst shame creme I’ve ever tried. It does not lather, dries up quickly, thereby drying the skin and making shaving quit difficult. You need to shave over the same spot multiple times, causing bad irritation. Overall, by far the worst Ursa Major product (and I’ve tried many). Please stop selling this product, it’s bad for your brand - and I’m a big fan.

I usually have around half a dozen Ursa Major products in my skincare line-up and thought I'd give this a try due to the stellar reviews here on the site and despite my friend who used it telling me it was awful. Well, I should have listened to my friend. This is the first UM product that just seems like a total flop. I also see here on the official site is the only place with overwhelmingly positive reviews, everywhere else it's a more balanced story. The smell is great but it's thick like a paste. It clogs blades horribly so I hope you have great water pressure for rinsing or you'll spend more time cleaning your razor than shaving. The lubrication and glide is awful. One pass and it's done. I have a thick beard and this was a miserable shaving experience. It also left my skin very red, irritated and dry. I went back to my Clinique for Men shave cream and gave this to my wife to try on her legs but she also hated it and threw it out. A premium product like this shouldn't require a special dance, a secret hand shake or oil underneath to work. It should just work, and for me, this didn't at all. If I had gotten this anywhere other than directly from Ursa Major I would have thought it was a fake product. One dud out of the bunch isn't bad though, overall Ursa Major makes many of my favorites and hopefully someday they'll make a better shave cream. I gave one additional star for the scent.
